The beginning of The Ice Age Trail
The Ice Age Trail is a National Scenic Trail stretching 1,200 miles across the state of Wisconsin including through Chippewa County. The trail focuses on the land formations created during the Ice Age. There are two official National Park Service sites in Wisconsin and one of them, the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, is the location of the start of The Ice Age Trail.
Public Lands and National Parks are at risk for being defunded, dismantled, or sold off under the current administration. One goal of Save Our Services (S.O.S.) is to protect and defend these natural gifts by raising awareness, providing resources for the public to assist in this goal, and supporting organizations that share this mutual goal.
The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program is an environmental conservation program that protects our lakes and streams, conserves working forests, secures critical wildlife habitats, and provides countless opportunities for outdoor recreation. The program has been tremendously successful but is in danger of being defunded.
