Starting soon, Chippewa Valley Action Groups will be posting videos at least once per month to give you the update on the actions they are working on with information on how you can get involved and support the local movements and responses that call to you! Here is what everyone has been working on the last couple months.

  • Appreciation Outreach — This group has been researching the federal agencies that have experienced severe funding cuts or grant cancellations and the number of persons working on  behalf of all of us so that we might be able to reach out and let them know they are appreciated.
  • Healthcare Action Group — The Healthcare Action group is a large and very active group! Their main focus on fighting to keep Medicaid (Badgercare)Medicare, and affordable healthcare for all with calls to the Wisconsin legislature to demand a vote is called. Visit their web page for more actions.
  • Learning Bridge — This group has worked on legislative concerns in Madison and the Chippewa Valley. They are also developing an innovative web-based project to shift the conversations in conservatives circles and create bridge of understanding and reconciliation.
  • Neighbors Helping Neighbors — This group recently completed the Sojourner House donation drive for unhoused community members. The current effort is hot meal service in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire. See below for registration. We really need people for the Eau Claire Community Table service!
  • Protecting Equity — This is a tremendously busy month for this group. On June 14, they’ll be hosting a table at Pride in the Park. Just five days later, on June 19th, they’ll have a table at Juneteenth! CVI members are encouraged to stand with our community members!
  • Rule of Law — This administration’s rush to increase their deportation numbers (with no recognition that these are people’s lives they’re destroying) has the Rule of Law group focused on building a Rapid Response Team to provide legal support, media attention, and family support to impacted persons. See the web page for more actions.
  • Save Our Services — This group focuses on saving federal services and public resources. They are currently working on a public lands and natural parks project to preserve funding for the Ice Age Trail.
  • LTE Group — See “Shining the Light” below to see how this group is working with local, new, and legacy print media to “shine the light” on key issues for residents of the Chippewa Valley. They research key issues and distill that information into digestible information nuggets to be used in a variety of media. They’re having a lot of success piercing the information desert in this part of the state. See below!
  • Truth and Our Economy — This group is focused on communicating our efforts to members of the community who may not be aware of our organization and our mission. They reach out to individuals and groups in a variety of capacities (business, legal, education, faith-based communities, citizen interest groups).
  • UWEC Action Group — This group of UWEC students is the most recent addition to our Action Groups. We are helping to get this group structured and organized during the summer so that students returning in the fall can join an active and vibrant youth movement defending, protecting, and strengthening the rights of students and young adults.

If your schedule doesn’t work with our meeting schedule, as a CVI member, you are encouraged to join the action group that speaks to you! Several groups meet online and those that don’t communicate with their group members so they can stay active on the causes that touch their hearts. Email us and we’ll connect you with your group.
