If you missed the meeting on Thursday, May 22, you can watch it on the Chippewa Valley Indivisible YouTube Channel! A content-rich meeting, we talked about CVI at 100 days and looking ahead to the next 500 (the 2026 midterms) and even beyond to the time when we have worked to heal our divisions and are living and working together within a democracy that serves us all.
After a deep dive into Chenoweth, Levitsky, Arendt, Snyder, et.al., we saw the four key structural efforts we need to take over the next 500 days. We must—
- Continue growing our Numbers and Momentum in our resistance and visibility efforts.
- Continue to Weaken the Key Pillars of Support to shift the active allies of this administration to passive or neutral allies whose self-interest is better served elsewhere.
- Maintain organizational discipline in the face of pushback and widely communicate the unconstitutional and oppressive actions to build support for democratic principles.
- Use a variety of nonviolent methods to rebuild the community cohesion and build an irresistible vision of a future with everyone included and no one left out. A “beloved community” thriving in a truly representative democracy.
The recording goes through the five authoritarian pillars (military, police, political party, billionaire elites, and media) in greater detail. It also talks about the spectrum of allies and how to shift those. One of the members said it was, “A great guide on how to fight authoritarianism!”
