D-Day Bridge Brigade Goes Nationwide
On June 6 — the anniversary of D-Day — CVI’s Bridge Brigade took on special significance. Our messaging honored the sacrifice of those who fought for freedom while drawing a clear line to the present: democracy requires defenders in every generation.
The D-Day themed Brigade caught fire on social media, with groups across the country picking up on the concept and adapting it for their own overpasses and bridges. What started on a highway overpass in Eau Claire became a nationwide moment of visibility.
CVI’s Bridge Brigade has always been about more than signs — it’s about showing up, being seen, and reminding every person driving by that their neighbors haven’t given up.
Madison Rapid Response: CVI Shows Up When It Matters Most
When the call came for rapid response action in Madison on May 26, CVI members made the drive. Our crew joined activists from across Wisconsin in a demonstration that earned coverage from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin Public Radio, and Spectrum News.
The action showed that CVI is part of a statewide network that can mobilize fast and show up where it counts. The media coverage amplified our message far beyond the capitol steps, reaching audiences across the state.
100+ Rally at Mayo Clinic for Healthcare — Media Takes Notice
Over 100 people gathered outside Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire on May 20 to protest the healthcare votes that threaten rural hospitals across Wisconsin. The rally was covered by WEAU, the Leader-Telegram, FOX, and Civic Media.
Speakers included healthcare workers, patients, and community members who shared what losing access to care would mean for their families. The message was clear: the votes to gut Medicaid are a direct threat to the hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms our communities depend on.
When 100 people show up on a Tuesday afternoon, people are paying attention.
Family Support Center Donation Drive: Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Action
CVI’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors group organized a donation drive for the Family Support Center, collecting essential items for families in need across the Chippewa Valley.
This is what community looks like — not just showing up at rallies, but showing up for each other. The drive was a reminder that CVI’s mission goes beyond politics. We’re building the kind of community where people take care of one another, and that work matters just as much as the protests and the voter registration drives.
Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered. You made a real difference for families in our community.
Singing Resistance Goes Solo as Independent Organization
What started as a CVI action group has become something bigger. Singing Resistance has officially spun off as an independent organization. The musical protest crew that has been lifting spirits and turning heads at rallies across the valley now stands on its own.
It is a proud moment for CVI. Singing Resistance grew out of our community, found its voice, and will continue showing up at protests and events, bringing the power of music to the movement. CVI members helped build something that will outlast any single campaign.
