Toto, We’re Not In America Anymore Protest
EAU CLAIRE, WI, SEPTEMBER 10, 2025 — Wednesday, September 10, was the six-month anniversary of weekly protests in Eau Claire, Wisconsin! Over 300 of us celebrated with a Wizard-of-Oz themed protest. Complete with costumes, music, and marching, it was a joyful nonviolent resistance action. Tons of honks and waves from passersby with many signs reminding people of what Good Witch Glinda (Bernie with Ballot Box, in our case) said to Dorothy, “You have the power. You always had the power!”

Elliot and Sam, the WQOW news team was about to go live from our protest on the 5pm news when news came through of the death of Charlie Kirk. They had to break away for a special report.
In these difficult and sometimes dangerous times, it takes great courage to come together and stand for democracy. As we said in the interview, we are standing for everyone in our community and we aren’t going anywhere.
